Problems with Damp in Caravans
Dampness in caravans can cause real problems unless it is spotted early and removed quickly and comprehensively. Half measures or a quick fix are definately not the way to tackle this defect. The main trouble is that unless you actively seek it out, by the time it makes itself known it will probably have spread extensively beneath the surface.
A typical cause of a damp patch appearing on a wall is likely to be a damaged or defective seal on the outside. Water will begin to find it's way past this seal in very small quantities that will not be noticeable but the damage will soon begin. It could be a surprisingly long time before things become obvious on the surface so it is not unusual for a barely noticeable mark on a wall board to expose extensive damage when it's removed. Insulation, electrics and even the structure of the caravan could all be damaged and need work.
Checking for Damp
If you limit yourself to looking for damp patches, as explained above you will likely be too late. A great deal of damageIf you limit yourself to looking for damp
